Brand Visibility (AI Context)
Brand Visibility is XAudient's flagship metric that measures how frequently and prominently a brand appears in AI-generated responses across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.
Definition
Brand Visibility is measured with three numbers, computed on the answers AI assistants give to your confirmed questions.
The Three Numbers
- SAV — SAV is your brand's mentions as a share of all mentions across your confirmed competitive set.
- WSAV — WSAV (weighted share of AI voice) is the same share weighted by position in the answer and by tone.
- Organic SAV — Organic SAV covers queries that name nobody: it is a true share (every company's share of all mentions in that bucket; brand plus competitors sum to ~100%).
How XAudient Measures Brand Visibility
- Curate intent-aligned queries from onboarding (awareness, consideration, decision).
- Submit each query to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity using consistent prompts.
- Extract the ranked list of brands mentioned within each AI response.
- Count mentions and record each mention's position and Tone.
- Compute SAV, WSAV and Organic SAV, and compare them Monitoring Cycle to Monitoring Cycle.
Not to Be Confused With
| Concept | What It Measures | Difference |
|---|---|---|
| SEO Visibility | Search engine results placement | SERPs list 10+ results. |
| Brand Awareness | Survey-based consumer recall | XAudient uses live AI outputs, not human recall studies. |
| Share of Voice | Media or social media volume | XAudient measures conversational AI responses, not media mentions. |
Why It Matters
- AI assistants increasingly act as buying guides; appearing in the top slots drives consideration.
- Visibility gaps highlight where to invest in provider-specific content and partnerships.
- Visibility trends reveal how marketing campaigns shift AI perception over time.
